Pine Rivers Showgrounds - Lawnton Qld

25th of May to 4th June 2017

11 nights camping at Pine Rivers Showgrounds at Lawnton.  Great facilities, great location and great price. $25 per night for full powered sites with full shower/toilet ammenities. (No Laundry - but who wants to do that anyway).  Shopping centre 500m down the road including chemist and medical centre, train station 500m up the road, Lawnton Aquatic Centre right next door, huge market in the Showgrounds every Saturday morning, plus lots of other clubs using facilities on the grounds eg. Fitness group, martial arts, crafts etc, Rock n Roll dance lessons.
Always something to do!  And only 20 minutes into City of Brisbane, but who wants to do Cities?

Best thing for us was being only 10 minutes from our daughter and Grand daughters.  Zara and Layla actually did their Cheer lessons of a Tuesday and Saturday in the street that backs onto the Showgrounds, so we got to go and watch them practice and perform 😊

It's sad to have to pack up and head off.  πŸ˜ž.       But on the plus side!!!!!!   We are only heading 2km up the road to Wyllie Park Campgrounds. πŸ˜‚

Below is the picture of main hall on the grounds which is where the Rock n Roll dancing is taught by the Breakaways Rock n Roll Club.  We attended a dance here on the Tuesday night and the band playing were "Little Stevie and The Tail Fins".  A very good night.

Couldn't believe how fantastic this swimming pool complex was and how on such a beautiful day............. there was nobody else here, except us!!!!!   These mainlanders must think it's winter ❄️!   But the pool was even heated and it was a glorious 26 outside.

For some reason, Zara and Layla believed Phillip when he told them he knew all about gymnastics and what they needed to do.  Hence, there was an hours private lesson by the "professional Poppy".

The results after an hours private tuition;   Almost a perfect 'Bridge'

Athena Dance Academy - a group photo taken after their mock competition practice.

The ACA's mini's routine performed for the mums and dads, (and Nan's and pops), in preparation for the real comps in about 6 weeks time.  It was really great to have this opportunity to see the girls doing their chosen after school activity sports.

We had the girls stay and spend some time with us.  Bought these Baby Newborn high chairs at the Showground Markets for $2 bucks each.  A real bargain and a real winner purchase as far as the girls were concerned.   For some reason, their babies were seriously sick and needed drastic medicine!

A day trip to Movie World was in order.

Much to Layla's delight, she was able to have her very first go at the Batwing Sligshot ride.  Due to height restrictions, she hasn't been able to have a go before, so she was very tickled pink to walk under the height measuring stick to find that she had grown the required cm's.  πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜
P.S.  Mum felt she was required to go on it with her in case of the jitters getting the better of Layla once strapped in, but no fear for Layla, arms were up in the air the whole time.  Can't say the same for Mum or Zara.  Even though Zara had been on this ride before, she felt a bit emotional this time and fear got the better of her.  Mum had the fingernail scars on her arm to prove it.
